What happens when the old roof shingles are taken off?

Do you have to cover the roof after taking all of the shingles off?

Do you take all the shingles off one day, and are you covering the roof with plastic just in case we get some rain?

No we never tear off anything that we can’t cover up immediately. So what we do is we will tear off sections, we inspect the roof deck, we replace rotted wood as necessary; and then, an important part of this is we re-nail the roof deck per the current codes. So if you haven’t had your roof replaced in quite a while your roof deck is probably not nailed to meet today’s building codes.

The above is a question and answer from the Talco Construction Ask Joe Roofing show, that airs every Sunday night on 96.5 WDBO RADIO from 5pm-6pm.
